From a very young age, Cory knew he would serve the public as a police officer. This calling so young says a lot about his dedication to community and family. It takes a very strong and special person to make such a commitment to serve, as Cory has. It also takes a strong person to face and fight the battle that Cory has recently been challenged with. More about this incredible battle later, first some history about Cory.

Cory graduated from Minster High School in 2005.  He knew before high school that his calling was to be a police officer and began his path at Rhodes State College in Lima Ohio, where he received his Associates degree. He then moved on to Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.  After graduating with a degree in Public Safety Management in 2009, Summa Cum Laude, Cory moved back to his hometown to pursue his dream and marry his high school sweetheart, Angie.

While working more than full time as a Pressman at Globus Printing, Cory switched to night shift and enrolled into the Police Academy.  From January 2010 to June 2010, the police academy took up 6 days of his week.  He graduated and was hired on as an auxiliary sheriff at Auglaize County Sheriff’s Department and the Minster Police Department. Of course, Cory still stayed on full time at Globus – to support his new family and save for the dream of owning a home.

In October of 2010, Cory and Angie married at the St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Minster, Ohio.  They celebrated on an amazing honeymoon in Jamaica.  In April of 2012, Cory and Angie moved into their first house which has kept them busy with all sorts of renovating projects.

Cory has worked harder than anyone I have ever met. He has worked hard for what he believes in. He works hard for his wife who is his best friend and foundation. All this work was paying off, as he was set to be hired full time with the Auglaize County Sherriff. He is truly a beacon of proof for all of us, that hard work, resilience and determination can and will pay dividends. It is this hard work, resilience and determination that will carry him through what will be the hardest road he has traveled to date.
